Performance
Verification
AS/NZS3551 calls for
verification of performance of medical devices
at the time of inservice testing.
Performance verification checks the essential
operating parameters of a device to ensure that
it is functioning correctly and reliably.
Any faults are identified so as equipment can be
withdrawn from service and repaired.
With performance verification
users can be assured that equipment is operating
as it should be.
As part of our routine on-site testing in
general practice clinics we carry out
performance verification checks on the following
items:
- ECGs
- Tympanic
thermometers
-
Sphygmomanometers
- Nebulisers
We also undertake operational
checks on other equipment such as hi/lo beds,
examination lamps and various items of
monitoring equipment.
Some devices require
specialised equipment or workshop facilities to
perform performance verifications or calibration
and often this means that they need to be
returned to the relevant service agency.
We advise if this is required.
